Country Road Tour

& Springhill-Wapato Loop Map

The Country Road Tour (in red) is level,
8.5 miles long, and rated "Easy" or "Beginner"
Start at Cafe Bouchee on the corner of Pacific avenue and Main Street.  Head south on Main, turn left on 18th and ride east until you hit Maple.  Turn south and cross Hwy 47.  The road name changes to Fern Hill Road and travels south past the city's sewer plant and the Fern Hill Wetlands, winter home to thousands of migratory birds.  Once you cross the highway, you are immediately surrounded by farmland.
Ride about 4 miles to a junction with Springhill Road, turn right and travel back towards town on Hwy 47.  After a brief time on the highway, jog right onto Anderson Road, which goes through an old farming community.  Stay on Anderson Road and cross the highway bypass.  You will be on Old Hwy 47.   travel northeast on this road , then connect on Hwy 47 which you'll follow back into town.  (Although Hwy 47 does have heavy traffic, it also has a very wide shoulder and excellent visibility)

The Springhill-Wapato loop is mostly level,
23 miles long, and little more difficult than
the Country Road Tour.
Start at Rogers park and head east on 18th St.  Turn left on maple, cross the Hwy 47 Bypass and travel south.  the road becomes Fernhill Rd.  Wide south on Fernhill about 4 miles and turn left at the intersection with Spring Hill Rd.
Follow Springhill south through East Gaston and past Laurelwood Rd. and Flett Rd., crossing the valley on your right.  Turn right on Flett Rd. over the low hill.  Turn right again (north) on Hwy 47.  The highway has an excellent shoulder for riding single file.  Pass through the town of Gaston and the turnoff to Hagg Lake.
Continue on Hwy 47 to Elm St.  Go left on Elm for 6 blocks and you're back at Rogers Park.  (Or at Elm, you might turn ride for a well deserved sip of Sake at the Sake One tasting room)

Hillside Ride Map

The Hillside Ride has easy hills, is 30 miles long,
and is rated "Moderate"
Start at Rogers park and head south on Elm to the Hwy 47 Bypass.  Turn left on the bypass to Fern Hill Rd., then right on Fern Hill and go about a mile to Gieger Rd.  Turn left on Gieger and ride past the Fern Hill Wetlands to LaFollett Rd.
Turn left on LaFollett to Golf Course Rd. and north (left) on Golf Course Rd. which you follow into Cornelius.  Go straight, crossing Baseline and Adair, northbound to Davis St.  Turn right on Davis, then left on Susbauer Rd. At Zion Church Rd. turn left and ride to Kerkman Rd.
Turn right and follow Kirkman to Harrington Rd. and continue westbound into Roy.  Turn left on Roy Rd. and pass the old depot.  Turn right on Greenville Rd., ride 2 miles to Hwy 47, which you cross, and continue to Kansas City Rd.
Left on Kansas City Rd. about 1/2 mile to Clapshaw Hill Rd.  Turn right on Clapshaw Hill and ride up the gentle hills to the old church.  Turn left on Hillside Rd.  (a good downhill to reward your climb) and follow Hillside as it rolls up and down Thatcher Rd.
Turn right and follow Thatcher Rd. into Forest Grove where it intersects with Gales Creek Rd.  Turn left and follow the main road into town.  At C Street, turn right to 18th Ave.  turn ;left on 18th, ride to Filbert St. and Rogers Park.
